An Edinburgh return for Christmas

The end of 2025 is in sight and I have a couple of exciting updates to throw into the empty void of the internet.

I am taking a Christmas-themed version of How To Win A Pub Quiz to the Stand in Edinburgh for two shows on 12-13 December. I have never been to Edinburgh in December and I am really looking forward to it. As I had withdrawal symptoms from fretting over ticket sales and checking them compulsively, I thought I’d do another couple of shows to close out the year.

Also, there will be an opportunity at the show for people to bring food donations for Edinburgh Food Project. So, we will hopefully be able to get some food to people who need it this Christmas.

The idea for a Christmas-themed HTWAPQ has been knocking around in my head for several years. I did make some provisional enquiries about it in 2019, but they never materialised into anything. Then at Edinburgh Fringe this year, I performed what can best be described as set to apathy outdoors. I was booked to raise awareness for Edinburgh Food Project, but did an admittedly poor job in my five minutes. So, I invited two of the organisers to see my show to mainly see that I was actually fairly decent when I had an audience of people listening to me.

Then at the start of October, one of the organisers got in touch to see if I’d be interested in doing a Christmas-themed version of my show. It turns out that, yes, I was very much interested. So, I got in contact with The Stand to get something set up and the rest is now on sale:

This will be the fourth time I have visited Edinburgh outside of August, all to perform at The Stand. But it will be the first time I have done a solo show there. This is how you can join me:

Show on Friday 12 December
Show on Saturday 13 December

But before I get to that, I am performing on a Saturday at Downstairs at the King’s Head on 6 December. It has been 15 years in the making to get to this point, overlooking the fact that I moved away from London for about eight years. It is a legendary venue and getting booked for a Saturday has been one of my main aims since I moved back to London.

So, I have a few exciting things to round the year off with.
